A cat owner took to social media to share her worries about whether or not the feline she brought inside is hers, and while still uncertain, TikTok users are looking on the bright side.
Amber Porter told Newsweek via TikTok her kitten, who is normally an indoor cat, accidentally got out for a few hours. When the cat finally came back, she brought her in. But she soon began to worry that the one she was holding was an identical, but different cat. She thought there was a mixup when she spotted a similar-looking black cat roaming around outside.
Porter questioned herself in her May 29 TikTok video posted on the account @amberjporter. Was this her cat’s twin who snuck inside and traded places? To investigate, she pulls up previous videos of her cat to compare the two. She slowly convinced herself this cat had different eyes.
The caption reads: “What do I do?”
Whether she brought in the right cat or not remains a mystery. She’s almost certain there was no mixup, but she’s not 100 percent.
“I’m still a little worried about it,” she said. “I have fully convinced myself I have the wrong cat but I also think I do have the right one.”
She said she has been trying to lure in the cat roaming outside by leaving food out. Yet, the attempt to bring that cat inside remains unsuccessful. The hope is when she can get the other feline, she’ll then have two cats living at home.
What Do Viewers Say?
The hilarious mix-up has left TikTok viewers in stitches. In a week, the clip amassed over 7.8 million views, 822,900 likes, and 5,073 comments.
“The fact you’re questioning it so much makes me think it’s not him,” said a viewer.
Someone pointed out: “Now you have 2 black cats. That’s his home now.” Two for the price of one.
A few users have questioned how she can’t tell the difference between the two cats, claiming they would be able to tell their pets apart immediately. However, she isn’t the only one to go through this experience.
One person said: “This happened to my parents and they just kept both.”
Another added: “Idk man this happened to me and to this day I swear the black cat I have isn’t mine.”
