People call for Ed Sheeran to be ‘cancelled’ after he’s pictured doing this with Johnny Depp

The unexpected trio, which included Russell Crowe, posed together in a selfie.

Ed Sheeran is facing calls for cancellation after being seen drinking Guinness and spending time with Johnny Depp earlier this week.

The “Bad Habits” artist was photographed alongside Depp and Crowe while the group enjoyed socialising backstage at an Andrea Bocelli concert near Florence.

The photo captured all three grinning at the camera while enjoying pints of Guinness. Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith, were also spotted backstage.

The Gladiator actor shared the selfie on his X account with the caption: “Teatro del Silenzio backstage shenanigans with Teddy & Johnny. Lubrication by Guinness. Perfect.

“Grazie Millie Maestro Andrea Bocelli. What an incredible experience.”

While the lighthearted post drew praise from some, it also sparked backlash from Ed Sheeran’s fans, who view Johnny Depp as a divisive figure. This sentiment stems from the actor’s highly publicized 2022 defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, which was broadcast globally.

Despite Depp’s victory in the US trial, he remains a subject of debate, as the actor previously lost a 2020 libel case in the UK. In that ruling, the court found that The Sun newspaper had not defamed him when it labeled him a “wife beater” in a headline.

A user on X shared their thoughts, stating, “I officially dislike Ed Sheeran,” while another simply exclaimed, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

One person questioned, “Can we cancel the ginger now?” Meanwhile, someone else remarked, “Well that’s Russell and Ed cancelled. Hanging out with that guy. Really?”

Another individual posted, “Oh, Ed Sheeran,” accompanied by a gif of Tyra Banks yelling: ‘I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you! How dare you!”

However, not everyone reacted negatively. Some users expressed excitement about the celebrities spending time together.

One comment read: “Oh my goodness! So much love, so many legends, so much awesomeness in this epic picture!”

Another user noted: “What a handsome trio. Legends!”

“Man, that’s a crew alright! How could you not have some fun,” added a third.

Each of the stars played a part in Bocelli’s show. Ed Sheeran took the stage to perform a duet with the tenor, while Depp joined in with his guitar as Bocelli honored English guitarist and Depp’s late friend, Jeff Beck.

Russell Crowe also showcased his vocal talents during his appearance at the event.
