Meghan Marke memorably recalled meeting her sister-in-law the Princess of Wales for the first time in her controversial Netflix series – and it seems her story is in complete contrast to the story of what happened when she first met her brother James’ wife Alizee
Meghan Markle memorably recalled the ‘jarring’ moment she met her future sister-in-law the Princess of Wales in her controversial Netflix series.
During the bombshell documentary with Prince Harry, Meghan told how her first introduction to Kate was when her and Prince William went to the Sussexes’ home for dinner, and that she was barefoot with ripped jeans. She explained she had always been ‘a hugger’ but didn’t realise that was ‘jarring’ for Brits.
However, in an interesting story from a new memoir written by Kate’s brother James Middleton, he recounts his future wife Alizee’s similar very casual introduction to his older sister – and it tells a very different story of the princess.
James met Alizee in the summer of 2018 after a chance encounter involving his pet dog Ella, who has now sadly passed away. After their unlikely first meeting, the pair began dating after striking up a romance.
And in his new memoir Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James recalls the first time he introduced his then-girlfriend to Kate, William and his nephew and niece Prince George and Princess Charlotte in a surprise moment.
In the book, James explains that he and Alizee had been to a wedding close to the Middleton family home in Berkshire and made the split decision to head back there after the event and stay the night. But unbeknown to him, William, Kate and their children were also staying there overnight and he only realised the next morning after hearing the children giggling. He describes how he left Alizee sleeping in bed while he went downstairs to see the family and to make his girlfriend a cup of tea.
And he reveals: “I’m about to take a cup up to Alizee when she appears at the kitchen door. She has just got out of bed, her hair still tousled, and she is wearing one of my shirts. In situations like this, Alizee is wonderfully French.
“She does not panic or rush upstairs to get dressed. Instead, she just greets everyone warmly as if it’s not remotely unusual to be meeting her boyfriend’s sister and brother-in-law for the first time wearing only an oversized man’s shirt.”
James then describes how there’s no awkwardness at all and how he and Alizee then spent the day with his parents, sister, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews and adds he got a “special squeeze” from his sister, who whispered in his ear: “She’s just great.”
It comes after Harry even recalled Meghan and Kate’s first meeting in his bombshell memoir, Spare, describing a major difference between the pair. In Spare, Harry notes how Meghan cooked and that everything seemed to be going well as they chatted about Wimbledon and the legal drama Suits.
However, there was one big difference between the women – and Harry said it was all down to what they were wearing. He writes: “The only possibly discordant note I could think of was the marked difference in how the two women dressed, which both of them seemed to notice. “Meg: ripped jeans, barefoot. Kate: done up to the nines. No big deal, I thought.”
