A cat’s middle-of-the-night escape luckily ended with her getting home safe, but not without her rocking a new look that made it seem like she went on a “three-day bender.”
In a June 27 TikTok video by user @alys.lewis, the owner’s cat walks around the house following her big night out. Usually all white, this chinchilla Persian cat came home a matted mess, with dirt surrounded her big eyes.
Her face screams confusion about what the heck just happened last night. While the night out might’ve been fun at the time, it eventually caught up with her, as it does to everyone on a bender, and she was not wearing it well the next morning.
“I didn’t know she had got out until I woke up around 6 a.m.,” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. “It had been raining, so she was soaking when I found her.”
As a resident in western Wales, rain is nothing new to this owner, however, that’s a different story for her cat. Indoor cats are protected from all weather extremes. But as seen in the clip, the rain hit this cat like a ton of bricks.
Now that the cat’s fur is a mess, the owner wondered in the caption: “Does anybody know a good cat groomer?”
Luckily, the cat returned safe and sound. A little rain got to her, but no harm was done.
The most surprising part of this incident was that the cat managed to get outside at all. The owner explained it was the first time she had escaped from a window, let alone a second-floor window.
“She’s really small, so I have no idea how she landed it!” she said.

Cats are known for their ability to nail a landing, but they don’t always walk away from high jumps unscathed. Serious injuries could include shattered jaws, broken bones, punctured lungs or broken teeth.
Pet parents should be extra cautious during the summertime, as simply opening a window might entice a cat to seek the outdoors. WebMD reported that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals veterinarians see about five cats who have hurt themselves after falling from a high place each week.
Now that this cat has had a glimpse of the great outdoors, she wants another taste of freedom. The owner said she is constantly wanting to go outside again.
Viewer Reactions
The TikTok video reached over 201,000 views, 25,900 likes and 134 comments as of Monday.
“Cat had a tough night, but loved it,” commented a viewer.
Another called it the “walk of shame,” as the evidence of the cat’s night is written all over her face.
