Shortly after Meghan Markle shared news about her Netflix series on Instagram, some royal fans voiced a similar criticism: “This looks awful.”
The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex expressed her excitement about revealing her new show, With Love, Meghan, but some social media users on X felt she was “entitled” for preparing meals that “nobody can afford right now.”
The highly anticipated lifestyle series, which was first hinted at when the American Riviera Orchard brand was introduced last March, will premiere on January 15.
The trailer features Meghan cooking in her Montecito kitchen, harvesting from her garden, and chatting with celebrity friends like Mindy Kaling, all while Do You Believe in Magic by The Lovin’ Spoonful plays in the background.
On her Instagram post with the trailer, Meghan wrote, “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it.”
Since comments were disabled on her Instagram, fans took to X to express their doubts about the series.
“Uh no thanks,” one user bluntly commented. Another wrote, “Oh god this looks terrible.”
A third said, “Hard pass,” followed by a laughing emoji, and another added, “Rather watch paint dry.”
Some criticized the Duchess of Sussex for her cooking and crafting series, calling her a “privileged individual” making food that is inaccessible to most people. One X user questioned the target audience, remarking that the series seemed aimed at wealthy women with plenty of free time.
They also criticized the idea of flowers in ice cubes as an extravagant and “entitled” concept.
However, not everyone shared this view. Some royal fans expressed excitement, with one saying the announcement “made their day” and eagerly anticipating Meghan’s cooking and gardening show.

Professional polo player Nacho Figueras was the first member of the Figueras family to appear in a Netflix series featuring the Sussexes, appearing in Harry & Meghan and the Duke’s polo show.
Meghan’s makeup artist and best friend, Daniel Martin, also features in the trailer for Meghan’s new program. He’s known Meghan for over a decade, having met her while she worked on Suits, and has remained close, even doing her makeup on her wedding day.
The series also includes literary agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, beauty mogul Vicky Tsai (who sold her brand Tatcha to Unilever), and Tracy Robbins, whose husband, Brian Robbins, is the Paramount boss. Meghan’s best friend Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of Alliance of Moms, is also on the guestlist.
