DIY Mosquito Repellent Mason Jars to Keep Bugs Away This Summer


Even if you’d rather be outside enjoying the summer weather, you may as well stay inside if you have to deal with those pesky mosquitoes and other pests. The good news is that there is an alternative that does not involve the use of harmful chemical-laden insect sprays such as DEET. The mason jars are known as mosquito repellents.

Make your own mosquito repellant in a mason jar with this easy-to-follow recipe and delicious aroma. Plus, they make a beautiful nighttime porch decoration and are mostly efficient against insects. Mason jars filled with aromatic oils, citrus peels, and fresh herbs make a formidable weapon against insects.
Once mosquitoes detect the oils wafting through the air, they will avoid you and the mosquito-killing substances in this recipe. Give it a go and judge for yourself!

Items Necessary:

4-Quart mason jars
– Ten drops of essential oil of lemon eucalyptus
The essential oil of citronella, ten drops
– Essential oil of vanilla, 5 drops
– Four sprigs of rosemary – Four floating disc beeswax candles – One sliced lemon – One sliced lime
Step 1 of assembly:
1. Fill each jar with an equal number of lime and lemon slices.
2. Incorporate one rosemary sprig into every container.
3. Add water until the jar is three quarters full.
4. Divide the essential oils into two mason jars and add ten drops of lemon eucalyptus, ten drops of citronella, and five drops of vanilla. Do not combine the drops.
5. If needed, add more water until the jar is almost filled.
6. To activate the power of each mason jar, add beeswax candles to them and light them.
