Jack Black has been trending in the headlines after his Tenacious D band member Kyle Gass made a statement referring to Donald Trump’s shooting incident. Meanwhile, another report grabbed public attention on July 19, 2024, claiming that the actor had decided to leave the US after the controversy.
The news was shared by Esspots and has been revealed as false. Esspots is a parody website known for spreading fake news. In the past, it has spread rumors about personalities such as Robert De Niro, Jason Aldean, and Taylor Swift.
The report of Jack Black departing from the US went viral due to multiple reshares of the news piece by Esspots.com on social media. The same thing was also posted by SpaceX Fanclub on Facebook, which emphasizes satirical news and they wrote:
“Jack Black Vows To Leave The US Permanently, “I Just Can’t Take It Anymore” – SATIRE.”
The comments section of the post was also flooded with multiple comments, with most users believing that the news was true. A few of them even praised Black for taking the decision, with one of them saying that “North Korea will welcome him with open arms.”
Esspots claimed that Jack Black addressed his US departure at a press conference
Esspots.com stated that the Mars Attacks! star appeared at a press conference, where he told his fans that he was “snubbed at award shows, overlooked for serious roles” despite his attempts to entertain the audience throughout his career. He said that his work was not being praised and added:
“I care about this world, about making people laugh and think. But every time I try to do something meaningful, it’s like I’m hitting a brick wall. I need to go where I’m appreciated, where they get me.”
The website claimed that Jack Black became emotional at one point and said that he had a great time in the US. He continued by saying that he was planning to launch a “commune in Iceland” or work as a “wandering troubadour in the Australian Outback.”
The King Kong star has not shared any response to the fake report until now. On the other hand, he has three films in his upcoming lineup including Borderlands, Minecraft, and Dear Santa.
Kyle Gass controversy, in brief
As mentioned, his band Tenacious D was involved in a controversy due to a comment made by Kyle Gass. The incident happened on July 14 this year when the duo were performing in Sydney, Australia as part of a tour. During the performance, the Goosebumps star told Gass to make a birthday wish and the latter said:
